By Sheila Moriarty
Sheila Moriarty is a local Saint Paul, Minnesota artist. Once upon a time, she was a teacher, writer and social worker. Now she devotes as much time as she can to watercolor painting, her passion.
“I paint for fun,” says Sheila. “I paint for the sheer joy of the experience. Watercolor is my favorite medium because it plays with light and shadow, sunlight and shade.
"I learned I had Parkinson’s disease twenty years ago. At that time, I suddenly realized that I postponed doing things I really liked to do, like painting. No more! Now I try to relish each day’s happenings with the same exuberance I feel when I squeeze luminous watercolors onto my palette or splash brilliant color into a watery sky."
